However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for a proven specialist like NAD Electronics International to assert itself successfully in this market. The price war is still virtually unrelenting, and unfortunately the most logos on the packaging are often as important as possible, sometimes even more than the actual quality, even if they are used to advertise features that are of little importance to many customers in practice. Manufacturers like NAD Electronics International must therefore make sure that their solutions focus on the really essential features, such as those standards that are actually relevant, in order to be able to guarantee value stability for as long as possible. In addition to the special quality of the products in terms of picture and, above all, sound, it is precisely this “longevity” of their systems that is a very important factor.

It is therefore hardly surprising that NAD Electronics International advertises the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver with the slogan “Simple is better”. In all relevant technical features, it meets the current standards and also has those genes that ensure the level of quality worthy of a solution from NAD Electronics International. The fact that the company once again relies on a modular design based on NAD MDC Technology is a guarantee that the customer is investing in a solution that is designed to be future-proof.

The new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver is designed as a 7-channel system, whereby the seven power amplifiers rely on the so-called NAD PowerDrive Amplifier Technology and thus achieve an output of seven times 60 watts on loudspeaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms. At first glance, this specification appears to be little compared to some other data sheets, but it must be explicitly pointed out that these performance data are much more practice-oriented. In this case, all power amplifiers are in operation, and not just one channel, as is becoming increasingly common in the AV segment. Moreover, when it comes to pulse power, the NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver delivers 240 Watts into 4 Ohms anyway. As IHF Dynamic Power at 8 Ohms, the manufacturer specifies 137 watts, and in pure stereo mode the NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver delivers 110 watts at 8 Ohms.

When it comes to surround sound processing, the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver is capable of supporting content in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS HD Master Audio, using high-speed multicore DSP. For video, the receiver is capable of delivering content in 4K Ultra HD TV at 60 frames per second with 4:4:4 colour gamut and HDR.

An essential feature of all AV receivers is their ability to adapt perfectly to the individual room and the speaker systems used. To this end, the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver is equipped with DIRAC Live and is supplied with a measuring microphone, so that the user can make the best possible room measurement and adapt the reproduction accordingly.

The NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver features three HDMI inputs and one HDMI output, plus two optical and two coaxial S/PDIF interfaces as inputs for audio signals, three pairs of RCA jacks as analogue inputs, 7.1 high-level inputs and outputs, and analogue outputs for a second zone. A USB port is provided for direct use of storage media as a source. A connection for headphones is available directly at the front, and this should not be forgotten either.

The audio and VIdeo circuits of the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver are mounted on a separate module, which is where the aforementioned NAD MDC technology comes into play. MDC, which stands for Modular Design Construction, guarantees that the video and audio circuits for signal processing are designed as such a MDC module and can therefore be replaced in the future if standards change or new ones become available. The actual 7-channel amplifier remains unchanged. In this way, value stability is guaranteed for many years to come, even in such a fast-moving market as home cinema.

In concrete terms, the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver contains the modules NAD VM130 for video and BluOS, and NAD AM230 for audio. This brings us to another feature of the new network AV receiver, namely streaming.

There is hardly any AV receiver today that does not have streaming functionality, and the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver can of course offer this as well, with particularly flexible audio streaming. The developers have put their trust in BluOS, equipping the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver with one of the best streaming platforms on the market. Not only does this make the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver part of a multi-room audio streaming system that now comprises over 50 products, it also allows for very convenient control via BluOS Control for Apple iOS, Google Android, Amazon FireOS, Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS, and supports all common audio data up to hi-res audio at 24 bit and 192 kHz. Also contents in MQA can be decoded with it.

It is interesting to note that the NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver does not have a network interface, however, as it relies solely on WiFi. Apple AirPlay 2 can also be used via the wireless network.

“‘Wireless” is also the easiest way to control the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver, using the NAD Remote app available for Apple iOS and Google Android. However, the Canadians have also consistently applied the principle “simple is better” to the overall operation of the receiver. In addition to the aforementioned control via the app, the control of the essential functions directly on the device should also be intuitive, as the number of controls on the front panel has been deliberately reduced to the really essential. Of course, a matching infrared remote control is also included in the scope of delivery, which also offers convenient control.

Finally, the new NAD T758 V3i AV Surround Sound Receiver features an RS232 interface and trigger and IR connections on its rear panel, allowing it to be easily integrated into a wide range of control solutions.

A glance at the data sheet shows that this new network AV receiver from NAD Electronics International is no lightweight either. With dimensions of 435 x 172 x 397 mm, it weighs an impressive 15.4 kg.
