NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier with Purifi Eigenakt Amplifier Technology

The new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier is the latest addition to the NAD Masters Series, a powerful stereo amplifier based on Purifi proprietary amplifier technology.

NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier, the latest addition to the high-end NAD Masters Series product line from the renowned Canadian hi-fi manufacturer NAD Electronics. As the name suggests, this is the company’s latest power amplifier, which is described as a HybridDigital Stereo Power Amplifier and once again relies on the outstanding Purifi Audio proprietary clock design.

This is to guarantee high performance with effective operation and, above all, clear, detailed imaging free of distortion.

Power Amplifier with HybridDigital Purifi Eigenakt Amplifier Technology

Of course, this is not the first amplifier from NAD Electronics to feature the so-called Purifi Eigenakt Amplifier Technology. The NAD Masters Series in particular already offers solutions in this area, such as the NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier or the NAD Masters M28 Seven Channel Power Amplifier, but the NAD Classic Series also offers solutions in this area, such as the NAD C 298 Power Amplifier.

The new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier with Purifi Eigentakt Amplifier Technology is particularly interesting, however, as it is especially suited as a partner for the aforementioned NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier and thus allows a combination that can deliver outstanding performance, but more on that in the following…

Excitingly, NAD Electronics has stated that the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier uses Class D amplifier modules, which NAD manufactures under licence from the Danish company Purify Audio.

Among the great advantages of this technology is that it offers a wide, flat frequency response, even with demanding loudspeaker loads, and noise, harmonic distortion and IM distortion are virtually unmeasurable at all frequencies and output levels.

Another advantage is that this design offers extremely low output impedance and a correspondingly high damping factor, so that a variety of loudspeaker systems are always under full control.

The developers at NAD Electronics combine the Purifi Eigentakt Amplifier Technology with a specially developed, sophisticated switched-mode power supply, which is said to be ideally equipped for even the highest loads thanks to its high current reserves.

According to NAD Electronics, the new circuit design clearly surpasses all previous Class D concepts and delivers a transparent, detailed sound with an expansive soundstage and almost holographic imaging at all listening levels and a wide variety of sound material.

“The sonic character of the M23 is enhanced by the numbers. This is an amazingly powerful and transparent amplifier that offers a new level of sophistication and dynamics at every level, setting a new benchmark for performance and value in its category.”

Cas Oostvogel, Product Manager NAD Electronics International

Very high power reserves

In very practical terms, the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier delivers an output power of twice 200 watts to speaker systems with an impedance of 8 ohms, and as much as twice 380 watts to speakers with an impedance of only 4 ohms. The dynamic power output is two times 260 watts at 8 ohms and two times 520 watts at 4 ohms.

Bridged Mode for the combination with the NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier

As already mentioned, some users of the NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier should pay attention to the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier, because it allows a so-called bridged mode. It delivers a full 700 watts into 8 ohms and can be combined with the aforementioned NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier to create a system that can deliver a whopping 700 watts twice.

Equipped for all connection options

Of course, the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier offers all connection options to be combined with different components. Inputs are available both in unbalanced configuration as a pair of RCA sockets and balanced in the form of XLR connections. Central control of several components is guaranteed via 12 V trigger connections.

A so-called gain control allows adjustment to other components in three steps, and solidly designed screw terminals are available for the loudspeaker systems.

Elegant, solid design

As befits a solution from the NAD Masters Series, the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier is of course also provided with an extremely elegant design, whereby the housing is made of solid aluminium and thus presents itself in the usual design language of the high-end hi-fi series from the house of NAD Electronics.

With dimensions of 435 x 133 x 396 mm, the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier weighs 9.7 kg, which is mentioned here for the sake of completeness.

Prices and availability

The new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier is available immediately from specialist dealers at a recommended retail price of € 3,499.

Getting to the point

NAD Electronics has been a pioneer in the development of innovative amplifier technology for years, and wants to continue this tradition seamlessly with the new NAD Masters M23 Stereo Power Amplifier and its innovative combination of proven NAD HybridDigital circuitry and Purifi proprietary amplifier technology. The company refers to this as a power amplifier with HybridDigital Purifi Eigenakt Amplifier Technology, which offers enormous power reserves and is therefore the ideal partner for the NAD Masters M33 BluOS Streaming DAC Amplifier, but also for other solutions in the NAD Masters Series.
