music hall mmf-11.3 – The new flagship

As a new flagship, music hall Audio presents the music hall mmf-11.3 turntable, which not only has an unmistakable, but for the brand very distinctive design, but also features a number of unique technologies from the record player specialist, making it even superior to its predecessor music hall mmf-11.1.

At the last product presentations, the specialist for record players music hall Audio concentrated primarily on solutions in the entry-level segment, but now the company is again focusing on the top end of the portfolio, right at the top. With the new music hall mmf-11.3 they present no less than the new flagship, which is to succeed the music hall mmf-11.1.

The new music hall mmf-11.3 is, according to the manufacturer’s promise, to impress with a completely redesigned structure, but will also bring a number of other improvements, so that it fully lives up to its role as the new flagship at music hall Audio and thus as the successor to the music hall mmf-11.1.

For example, the new music hall mmf-11.3 is a completely isolated, freestanding motor and flywheel assembly. This means that the drive, speed control and tonearm have their own base and are therefore completely separate from each other.

The tonearm is mounted on the uppermost base of the drive. The inverted bearing for the platter is located in the second plinth and is made of ceramic. In it the acrylic turntable rotates with a mass of no less than 3.35 kg. In the previous model, the entire motor unit was mounted on the lowest plinth, but now, in the new music hall mmf-11.3, a completely freestanding unit consisting of motor, flywheel and speed controller is mounted on a separate plinth. Vibrations cannot be transmitted to the other units.

The adjustable magnetic levitation feet for particularly effective insulation from the ground are, like all cables, mounted on the lowest base of the chassis construction.

The music hall mmf-11.3 uses a new damping material, TPE, in combination with spacers between the individual levels of the drive unit chassis. This is intended to ensure particularly effective insulation.

An interesting design feature is the lowest plinth, which, according to the manufacturer, acts as a resonance sink for the entire record player.

The special design of the drive unit must also be emphasized, because here the developers of the new music hall mmf-11.3 now rely on two synchronous motors and a flywheel. This, they at music hall Audio are convinced, should increase the torque and speed stability.

The speed of the new music hall mmf-11.3 is electronically controlled by a microprocessor. Of course, this also provides the basis for selecting the speed between 33 1/3 and 45 revolutions per minute at the touch of a button.

The new music hall mmf-11.3 uses a tonearm from Pro-Ject Audio Systems, specifically a Pro-Ject 9cc Evolution Carbon tonearm with an effective arm length of 230 mm. Four stainless steel tips, mounted in ABEC 7 ball bearings, form the inverted tonearm bearing. In order to avoid any resonance on the tonearm that could damage the sound, a decoupled counterweight is used, which also functions as a resonance damper. Of course, the damped tonearm allows all important parameters for the use of different pickup systems to be adjusted, i.e. azimuth and VTA.

For the connections, the developers rely on gold-plated RCA plugs, so that the user can use various phono cables as desired.

The new music hall mmf-11.3 is powered by an external 15 V 0.8 A DC power supply, which is of course included in the scope of delivery.

The music hall mmf-11.3 measures 540 x 197 x 350 mm and weighs 17.9 kg. The drive is available in walnut and black piano lacquer.

It comes with an audio cable, the already mentioned power supply and an acrylic cover.

The basic version of the new music hall mmf-11.3 costs € 3.995,-, whereas this applies to the black version. The walnut version is charged at € 4.295,-. If you decide on the drive and want a suitable pickup system right away, the manufacturer offers two options. For example, the new music hall mmf-11.3 can be purchased with a pre-assembled Ortofon Cadenza Black, at a recommended retail price of € 5,595 in the black version. Again, you have to add a little more for the music hall mmf-11.3 in walnut plus Ortofon Cadenza Black, at a suggested retail price of € 5.895,-.
