MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable

Together with Fender, MoFi Electronics now presents a record player with truly outstanding design, namely the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable, which features Fender’s legendary sunburst finish.

It is very exciting to find out how the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition turntable came about, which MoFi Electronics now presents as the result of its collaboration with Fender. What makes this turntable so special is probably obvious at first glance, and that is the so-called sunburst finish, which is familiar from Fender brand electric and bass guitars.

It is legendary guitars and basses that made this special finish legendary, such as Fender Precision Bass, Fender Stratocaster, and also Fender Telecaster models.

MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable – The Visit of a HiFi Dealer

The idea for the initiative between Fender and Mobile Fidelity Electronics came to a Fender Vice President during a visit to a HiFi dealer when he heard about Mobile Fidelity Electronics’ record players.

The good man soon got in touch with the Fender Custom Shop’s Principal Master Builder, Yuriy Shiskov – a wood expert and one of Fender’s best-known guitar builders – to discuss the project, the two companies said in their product launch.

Shiskov worked late into the evenings machining blocks of swamp ash wood – the same wood used to make Fender Precision Bass guitars – until he had designed the driver to achieve the special effect of grain and finish found on the instruments.

Each individual chassis of each MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable is sourced, milled and finished by Fender before being sent to the Mobile Fidelity Electronics factory in Michigan, where the MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable is then completed.

Developed and handmade in the USA

The companies particularly emphasise that the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition turntable is not only developed in the USA, but also handcrafted.

Unfortunately, it has to be said that it is only a limited edition, but according to the two companies, it has the typical features of both American companies.

Visually, as already mentioned, the drive impresses with the unmistakable and indeed quite rightly described as iconic Tricolor Sunburst pattern, which dates back to the early 1950s and reflects the look of the Fender Precision Bass, Fender Stratocaster and Fender Telecaster models.

Each drive is finished with an exquisite urethane lacquer that ages extremely well and provides exceptional durability. It is hand-painted using the exact same process that Fender uses in its Custom Shop factory for its popular four- and six-string instruments.

Limited to just 1,000 pieces, this collector’s item is individually numbered and features a nameplate not unlike the metal serial number plates on Fender guitars.

Audiophile vinyl playback

In terms of sound, the MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable is an example of audiophile quality through and through, with accurate, precise playback of vinyl. The manufacturer states that everything was done to create a turntable that could satisfy even the highest audiophile demands. The turntable should thus fully live up to its name.

The turntable is made of a heavy Delrin platter, and the company emphasises the special properties of this material with regard to damping. The platter is driven by an external belt and a specially insulated AC synchronous motor with – according to the manufacturer – first-class speed stability. Right down to the special ester-based bearing grease, every detail has been optimised to guarantee the desired precise playback.

The tonearm is a 10-inch aluminium tonearm with a gimbal bearing that allows not only the tracking force but also the VTA and azimuth to be adjusted.

The so-called MoFi Ultra tonearm uses cables from Cardas Audio to ensure, according to the manufacturer, signal purity from the headshell cables to the RCA connections.

The turntable is enthroned on special anti-vibration feet that were developed in collaboration with the engineering team at Harmonic Resolution Systems, the world leader in vibration isolation, specifically for the weight of the MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition turntable.

Mobile Fidelity Electronics MasterTracker Cartridge

On the tonearm of the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable is the Mobile Fidelity Electronics MasterTracker Cartridge, an MM cartridge fine-tuned by Allen Perkins and MoFi Electronics and manufactured with the highest precision to achieve just that in playback.

MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable – 1,000 pieces only

As already mentioned, this is a limited edition turntable, only 1,000 units of the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable will be available worldwide.

The price for the new MoFi PrecisionDeck Limited Edition Turntable is stated at € 3.749,-.
