Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 with MQA Core Decoder

Lyngdorf Audio’s top model, the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400, has now received a firmware update that enables it to process content encoded in MQA. This means that audio data from TIDAL can now be played back in high quality.

Lyngdorf TDAI-3400, this is the flagship of the Lyngdorf Audio brand from the company SL Audio A/S. This solution combines a wide range of functions at the highest level, including streaming. And as befits a company in the high-end hi-fi segment, SL Audio A/S also relies on impeccable support and thus regularly delivers updates that expand the functionality.

A new firmware is now available, which offers a very important option for many users, namely the direct support of content encoded in MQA. With the help of the latest firmware, the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 has an MQA core decoder.

TIDAL Connect Update in Autumn 2020

Only in October 2020, the company presented an update for the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400, which expanded it with TIDAL Connect. This makes it possible to use the online music streaming service in such a way that the data traffic no longer runs via the smartphone, but directly via the network, so that the smartphone with the corresponding app actually functions solely as a remote control. The addition of support for content in MQA is a logical step, as it means that content from TIDAL can now also be consumed in MQA in full quality.

MQA not limited to TIDAL alone

But of course the spectrum extends beyond TIDAL, because many music download providers also offer content encoded in MQA, and the user can also rip MQA CDs himself and store the corresponding files on a central NAS, a local USB drive or a USB stick. Accordingly, after the update, the Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 is also capable of playing back content encoded in MQA via all these sources.

The Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 thus presents itself as an even more flexible streaming client. UPnP is supported as the lowest common denominator in the network, the solution is even dlna-certified, it supports Apple AirPlay as well as Google Chromecast and it is designated as Roon Ready, supports, as described, TIDAL including TIDAL Connect, also understands Spotify including Spotify Connect, and can of course also access Internet radio via the vTuner service.

The new firmware is available directly on the amplifier via the corresponding menu, but can also be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and installed via USB or SD card.

Getting to the point

Once again, SL Audio A/S has made a significant update to the Lyngdrof TDAI-3400, equipping it with an MQA core decoder. This means that content encoded in MQA can now be played back in full quality.
