Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC – The new D/A converter in a compact format

The Lindemann Limetree Series is becoming a very exciting range of products, with the addition of the new Lindemann Limetree USB DAC.

The new Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC is the latest addition to the Lindemann Limetree Series, a product line that the German high-end hi-fi specialist Lindemann audiotechnik GmbH has been successively expanding over the past few years and offering as extremely attractive solutions with a particularly small form factor.

With the Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC, how could it be otherwise in view of its name, a small but really fine D/A converter is available.

Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC – Everything on board…

With the Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC, Lindemann audiotechnik GmbH promises to offer a D/A converter that can fully meet the high expectations that users have of solutions from the German specialist, even though it is such a “tiny” device.

Once again, every effort has been made to meet the highest demands for sound quality, even in a solution with such a compact form factor, as has been the case with the entire Lindemann Limetree Series since its introduction.

Transducers from specialist ESS Technology Inc. as the basis

The current version of the Lindemann Limetree NETWORK II features a D/A converter from the specialist ESS Technology Inc, namely an ESS ES9038 Hyperstream DAC. The ESS ES9038 Hyperstream DAC, which has an internal resampling option based on DPLL and SRC that converts all data into a new, completely jitter-free stream, is said to be crucial for the quality of the signal processing.

The signal conversion is based on a MEMS femto clock with a clock jitter of less than 500 fs. This results in an extremely stable clock with extremely low phase noise for the best sound results.

The converter is able to process signals in Linear PCM with up to 32 bit and 768 kHz, as well as DSD including DSD512.

Inputs include a USB port for direct connection to a PC or Mac and two S/PDIF interfaces. Analogue signals are output via a pair of cinch sockets.

Analogue volume control

The manufacturer explicitly points out that the new addition to the Lindemann Limetree Series uses analogue volume control. Here, too, the new Lindemann Limetree USB DAC has exactly the same features as the Lindemann Limetree NETWORK II.

Integrated headphone amplifier

This also applies to another feature that the new Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC has to offer, namely an integrated headphone amplifier.

According to the manufacturer’s promise, this is a top-class solution that can thus operate a wide range of headphone models without any problems.

Control via remote control

Another feature of the new Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC looks very familiar, and that is the ability to control it via remote control. Another indication of the very direct relationship with the Lindemann Limetree NETWORK II.

According to Lindemann audiotechnik GmbH, the new Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC will be delivered in the coming weeks.

Getting to the point

With the new Lindemann Limetree USB-DAC, the German high-end hi-fi manufacturer Lindemann audiotechnik GmbH is once again expanding its extremely exciting Lindemann Limetree Series with a D/A converter that bears a very close relationship to the Lindemann Limetree NETWORK II. In fact, you could almost say that the new Lindemann Limetree USB DAC has all the signal processing of the Lindemann Limetree NETWORK II, right down to the integrated headphone amplifier, but of course does without the streaming client.
