Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 – Including Dolby Atmos

US speaker specialist Klipsch now offers a complete speaker set designed to deliver immersive 3D surround sound. The new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 requires only a subwoofer plus an AV receiver.

Three-dimensional sound effects in the living room are made possible with the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4, which is now being offered by the US speaker specialist Klipsch. This system consists of five loudspeaker systems in a living room-friendly design, which is supposed to offer powerful dynamics and thus a realistic sound image for the cinema in your own four walls.

To complete the system, the user only needs a matching AV receiver and possibly an optional subwoofer.

Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 – Five Speakers

The new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 consists of five speaker systems, two for the left and right channels at the front, two for the left and right surround channels and one for the centre speaker. It is interesting that the speaker systems of the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 are so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, i.e. they have additional speakers implemented on the top in order to reproduce immersive 3D sound via ceiling reflections.

Thus, the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 should form the basis for the promised room-filling 3D sound with captivating sound effects.

Completely connected to tradition

Even though the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 is a comparatively compact system, it is still intended to be fully connected to the decades of Klipsch tradition. Cinema has played an important role in this tradition from the very beginning, and the loudspeaker systems designed by Paul W. Klipsch were particularly well suited to this task and have been regarded as the reference for decades.

A key feature has always been a horn driver, and the new entry-level system, the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4, is of course based on the Klipsch Tractrix horn tweeter that has been around for years.

This tweeter is combined with 5.25 inch low-mid drivers with copper-coated diaphragms and a lightweight but extremely sturdy graphite-coated aluminium basket manufactured by injection moulding, at least for the speakers for the front and rear channels. The centre speaker uses two 4-inch low-mid drivers of the same design, so that a particularly flat construction is achieved. This allows the centre speaker to be placed very flexibly directly under the TV or even the screen, for example in an AV cabinet.

The manufacturer promises highly efficient solutions for all speakers in the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4, which can be combined with a wide range of AV receivers and offer clear sound and maximum dynamics. The fact that the speakers are ultimately solutions with a bass reflex system, whereby a solid construction and optimised cabinet tuning as well as a so-called dual-port design, which is supposed to allow the low-frequency reproduction to be particularly powerful, is probably also a decisive factor in this.

Dolby Atmos included

As already described, the speakers are designed as so-called Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers, i.e. they have an additional driver on the top for the reproduction of a discrete treble channel. Emitted diagonally upwards into the room, the impression of a sound source from above is conveyed via ceiling reflections.

Open for different subwoofers

In this case, a conscious decision was made to offer the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 without a subwoofer. The reason for this is that different rooms require different subwoofers, and this is exactly the option they want to offer the customer. The new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 can be easily combined with a wide range of Klipsch subwoofers, such as 8, 10, 12 or 15 inch drivers, depending on the room size.

Basic requirement: an AV receiver

As we have already mentioned, the new Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 is a loudspeaker set that naturally requires a suitable AV receiver as a partner. The Klipsch Reference Theater Pack 5.0.4 is designed in such a way that it can be flexibly combined with any kind of electronics.
