JBL Tuner 2 and JBL Tuner XL – Portable radios in small and slightly larger…

As a powerful portable radio couple, equipped with both FM and DAB tuners, Harman International Industries describes JBL’s latest mobile solutions, the new models JBL Tuner 2 and JBL Tuner XL.

When it comes to portable devices, one probably thinks primarily of so-called Bluetooth speakers. These are solutions where the smartphone is the primary source, allowing you to access a wide range of content anytime, anywhere. For some, however, one source is sufficient, namely radio, so that you can listen to music without a smartphone and an app installed on it.

For all those who want to listen to the radio anywhere in the simplest, most straightforward way possible, Harman International Industries has the latest JBL brand solutions, JBL Tuner 2 and JBL Tuner XL. These are portable radios that are equipped for both FM and DAB, and are designed to be robust and can be taken anywhere. While the JBL Tuner 2 is the successor to the JBL Tuner, the new JBL Tuner XL is the new big brother.

In July 2018 the JBL Tuner was presented as a Bluetooth speaker with DAB and FM. The new JBL Tuner 2 will now pick up where its predecessor left off, according to the manufacturer’s promise. Numerous improvements in design and sound are to characterize the new generation, whereby the manufacturer is of course once again talking about a slim, almost super compact companion.

The new JBL Tuner XL is also to be compact, of course, but designed to be even more powerful than its little brother, using a larger driver, a 2.75 inch driver, and an even more powerful amplifier which offers 10 watts of nominal power. The small model is a 1.75 inch driver that provides 5 watts of power.

Both models are absolutely waterproof, meet the IPX7 protection class, so they can be used anywhere, be it in the kitchen, bathroom, terrace, garden, on trips to the countryside, even in the swimming pool or on the beach.

For both models, the manufacturer promises powerful, crystal-clear JBL Signature Sound. The integrated battery in the JBL Tuner 2 offers a playing time of up to twelve hours, while that of the JBL Tuner XL even offers a playing time of up to 15 hours.

As already mentioned, the focus is on radio, whether FM or DAB, but ultimately the JBL Tuner 2 and JBL Tuner XL models are also portable Bluetooth speakers, so that smartphones and tablets can be used directly as sources to access their own content as well as various streaming services.

Both models have a display, so that all relevant information can be read off, which is transmitted by FM, but especially by DAB. Various buttons are available on the devices for simple operation.

The new JBL Tuner 2 and the new JBL Tuner XL are available from specialist dealers with immediate effect. The manufacturer is offering a recommended retail price of € 99.99 for the JBL Tuner 2 and € 149.00 for the JBL Tuner XL. In Switzerland, you have to budget CHF 129,- for the JBL Tuner 2 and CHF 189,- for the JBL Tuner XL.
