Denon Home Subwoofer – Low bass in the Denon Home Series

The Denon Home Series is getting a new addition in the form of a new subwoofer that, like all the other solutions in the range, can be controlled ‘wirelessly’, making it ideal for complementing solutions such as the Denon Home Sound Bar 550, as well as all the other wireless speakers in the range.

The Denon Home Subwoofer is the latest addition to the Denon Home Series, the range of wireless speakers offered by Sound United LLC, formerly under the HEOS brand and now part of Denon, and referred to as HEOS Built-in Technology.

Sound United LLC. sees the products of the Denon Home Series as premium wireless speakers with HEOS built-in, which are particularly flexible systems for setting up a multi-room audio streaming system and can not only play back their own content up to hi-res audio, but also support countless streaming providers for particularly flexible use.

Denon Home Subwoofer for rich bass

The manufacturer is convinced that the new Denon Home Subwoofer is characterised by a rich, dry, accentuated bass, even though it is a comparatively compact, discreet solution with dimensions of 330 x 373 x 330 mm and 12.5 kg, which makes it particularly easy to integrate into the living environment.

The heart of the Denon Home Subwoofer is an 8 inch woofer, whereby this solution is designed as a so-called down-firing subwoofer to guarantee an even radiation into the room.

The manufacturer speaks of an optimised bass port as well as an amplifier in Class D, but unfortunately does not give any concrete power specifications for the new Denon Home Subwoofer. Even the data sheet on the company’s website does not reveal anything in this regard and is also otherwise rather reserved with facts beyond general product descriptions of the new Denon Home Subwoofer.

What is clear, however, is that the new Denon Home Subwoofer, like every other device in the Denon Home Series, is integrated into the network via WiFi, and relies on WiFi in accordance with IEEE 802.11ac. Alternatively, an RJ45 interface is also available to enable network integration via cable.

HEOS Built-in as the basis

As already mentioned, HEOS Built-in Technology is the basis for all products in the Denon Home Series, including the new Denon Home Subwoofer, which can therefore be combined with all solutions in the range.

However, the combination with the Denon Home Sound Bar 550, for example, is probably the main focus here, as it appears to be the perfect partner for this. Especially since, with the help of the Denon Home Subwoofer and two further wireless speakers from the Denon Home Series, a complete 5.1 surround sound system can be set up around the soundbar for a real cinema feeling, as the manufacturer himself puts it.

Of course, you can also use the new Denon Home Subwoofer to give the compact speakers in the Denon Home Series a little more depth.

Whether stereo or surround, whether soundbar or other wireless speakers of the Denon Home Series, the HEOS App for Apple iOS and Google Android always forms the basis for activating and optimally configuring the interaction with the new Denon Home Subwoofer. With the new Denon Home Subwoofer, the app provides parameters such as volume, low-pass filter and phase. In addition, the Denon Home Subwoofer is supposed to automatically adapt to the configuration of the respective paired Denon Home product.

But the most important controls are also available directly on the device, and a USB port to which the corresponding storage media can be connected is particularly exciting. Audio data stored on such storage media can then be played back via the USB port.
