Dali Speaker A/S once again expands its product range in the field of built-in speaker systems and thus solutions for the custom installation segment. New in the Dali PHANTOM Series are the models Dali PHANTOM K-60, Dali PHANTOM K-80, Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and Dali PHANTOM K-80 R.

With the expansion of the Dali PHANTOM Series by no less than four models, the solutions Dali PHANTOM K-60, Dali PHANTOM K-80, Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and Dali PHANTOM K-80 R, the Danish company Dali Speaker A/S once again underlines its commitment to custom installation. These are two solutions designed for ceiling installation and also two models designed for wall installation.

All four new speakers of the Dali PHANTOM Series are, like the already available systems, designed as so-called full-range speaker systems and are therefore equally suitable for the sonorous, yet discreet sound in living rooms, whether in connection with classic hi-fi, or home cinema.

Dali PHANTOM Series – An alternative for conventional speaker systems

Renowned manufacturers such as Dali Speaker A/S always make sure that their built-in speaker systems offer the same high sound quality as conventional solutions. For example, Dali Speaker A/S states that the built-in speaker systems of the Dali PHANTOM Series are in no way inferior to conventional speaker systems, and even more so, they explicitly ensure that the products for the custom installation sector have the same sound signature, so that they can be combined with “normal” speaker systems from the extensive product range of the Danish speaker specialist without any problems.

Built-in speakers as perfect sound transducers for smart home systems

From the point of view of Dali Speaker A/S, it is obvious that the requirements for loudspeaker systems designed for custom installation solutions have changed drastically in recent years, and that equally high standards of quality must be met. After all, it is the development of smart home systems that has significantly increased the acceptance of built-in loudspeaker systems in the private and no longer just in the commercial environment.

Professional custom installation specialists, according to Dali Speaker A/S, provide customers with tailored solutions that combine control of video and audio multi-room systems with control solutions for heating and air conditioning, shading solutions, lighting and alarm systems.

Built-in loudspeaker systems are thus increasingly found not only in the hotel, catering or business premises or offices, but also in private households.

Dali PHANTOM Series with familiar features

In order to achieve the aforementioned uniform sound signature as well as high sound quality, the developers of the Dali PHANTOM Series built-in speaker systems also rely on the same features and technologies that are familiar from the Danes’ conventional speaker systems.

The new models of the Dali PHANTOM Series, the Dali PHANTOM K-60, Dali PHANTOM K-80, Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and Dali PHANTOM K-80 R, all feature a tweeter in the form of a 28 mm fabric dome.

This tweeter is said to distinguish itself not only by its clear, detailed sound at the top, but also by the fact that its frequency range, due to its comparatively large diameter, extends far down to about 2 kHz for the wall-mounted speaker systems of the Dali PHANTOM Series and to about 3 kHz for the ceiling-mounted speaker systems of the Dali PHANTOM Series.

A clear indication that the models of the Dali PHANTOM Series are based on the same features and components as the other loudspeaker systems is, of course, once again the distinctive reddish-brown membrane of the low-midrange drivers, which has long been typical for Dali Speaker A/S, and which can also be found in the new models Dali PHANTOM K-60, Dali PHANTOM K-80, Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and Dali PHANTOM K-80 R. This characteristic coloration results from the fact that the Dali PHANTOM K-60 R is a very compact and compact loudspeaker system.

This characteristic coloring results from the special material on which the Danes have relied for years, namely a wood fiber-cellulose mixture that ensures particularly homogeneous radiation and controlled imaging.

Dali PHANTOM K-60 and Dali PHANTOM K-80

With these two models, new speaker systems of the Dali PHANTOM Series are available for ceiling installation, presenting themselves as round two-way systems.

In addition to the discreet sound reinforcement of a room, these systems are of course particularly suitable for use in the home cinema environment, where they take over the task of surround or effect and treble channels in a multi-channel system.

Both solutions are so-called coaxial systems, so the tweeter sits in the center of the low-mid driver. To minimize any coloration caused by the special design, the tweeter mount is designed as an arm that has the profile of an airplane wing and thus has virtually no effect on the airflow of the low-midrange driver. Incidentally, the tweeter can be tilted so that it can be aimed directly at the listening position.

While the Dali PHANTOM K-60 model features a 28 mm tweeter and a 165 mm low-mid driver, the Dali PHANTOM K-80 model is equipped with said tweeter and a 200 mm low-mid driver. Accordingly, the frequency range of the Dali PHANTOM K-60 ranges from 58 Hz to 25 kHz, while the Dali PHANTOM K-80 ranges from 52 Hz to 25 kHz, with the crossover starting at 3.6 kHz and 3.3 kHz respectively.

Both systems are designed to be very discreet, with the Dali PHANTOM K-60 measuring a mere 223 mm in diameter and the Dali PHANTOM K-80 also measuring only 261 mm.

Very important: the installation depth is very small for both models, 100 mm for the Dali PHANTOM K-60 and 109 mm for the Dali PHANTOM K-80. And with a weight of only 1.58 kg and 1.92 kg respectively, you don’t have to worry too much about the installation, especially since the manufacturer naturally offers an optional backbox for the installation.

Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and Dali PHANTOM K-80 R

These two new models of the Dali PHANTOM Series are rectangular two-way systems with dimensions of 390 x 220 mm and a mounting depth of 90 mm for the Dali PHANTOM H-60 R and dimensions of 427 x 260 mm and a mounting depth of 103 mm for the Dali PHANTOM H-80 R. These would be excellent stereo main speaker systems which, however, could be installed discreetly to the left and right of the TV set in the wall.

This would provide excellent stereo main loudspeaker systems, which would “disappear” discreetly to the left and right of the TV set in the wall, but would be able to set the scene acoustically. The use as hidden rear surround speakers in the home cinema is of course also conceivable.

The Dali PHANTOM H-60 R features a combination of 28 mm tweeter and 165 mm low-mid driver and can thus cover a frequency range between 51 Hz and 25 kHz. The crossover intervenes here at 1.9 kHz. The Dali PHANTOM K-80 R uses a combination of a 28 mm tweeter and a 200 mm low-midrange driver and is thus able to cover a frequency range between 46 Hz and 25 kHz, with the crossover intervening at 2.35 kHz.

All models are of course supplied with matching speaker grilles, which are designed to be particularly flat and thus allow almost flush installation in the ceiling or wall.
