Bose QuietComfort 45 – The return of the original

For years, Bose Corporation was considered the undisputed market leader in the field of headphones with active noise cancellation, but now they are one provider among many. It is all the more exciting that Bose Corporation is now presenting a new generation in the form of the new Bose QuietComfort 45.

Bose QuietComfort 45, this is the latest over-ear noise-canceling headphones from Bose Corporation. The company advertises that the “original” is now back, with even better noise cancellation, lightest weight for high wearing comfort, and unique technologies for best sound.

It’s no coincidence that Bose Corporation is talking about the “original” here. The company wants to tie in with old successes, which they could celebrate over the years as the clear market leader in the field of noise cancelling headphones.

Bose QuietComfort 45 – The Original

In fact, Bose Corporation was in the fortunate position of dominating the active noise-cancelling headphone market for years, but those days are long gone.

More and more manufacturers devoted themselves to this special product area and gradually delivered solutions that were quite equal to those of the market leader, sometimes even superior.

Today, many manufacturers offer a wide range of headphones that also feature active noise cancelling, and customers even consider this to be a kind of standard equipment in the premium segment.

Acoustic Noise Cancelling Technology

According to the manufacturer, the so-called Acoustic Noise Cancelling technology is the result of over 50 years of research. The new Bose QuietComfort 45 delivers first-class noise reduction, which also works in such a way that music playback remains completely unaffected, so you can enjoy a perfect performance. The company even speaks of lifelike top sound. This is achieved by a combination of passive and active noise reduction, as the manufacturer states on record.

New Aware Mode

But it’s not always desirable to actually be completely disconnected from one’s surroundings, so now Bose Corporation also relies on a so-called Aware Mode. This is supposed to ensure that you can hear everything from your surroundings at the push of a button, even when you have the Bose QuietComfort 45 on.

It has to be noted that this new feature of the Bose QuietComfort 45 has long been standard in the competitor’s solutions…

Bose TriPort Acoustic Headphone Structure

Bose Corporation has always been very cautious when it comes to revealing exact technical data. In order to emphasize that the new Bose QuietComfort 45 is supposed to excel with a particularly appealing sound, they only refer to the Bose TriPort Acoustic Headphone Structure, which is supposed to make this possible.

This Bose TriPort Acoustic Headphone Structure is supposed to increase the acoustic volume of the earcups for a deeper, fuller sound by providing them with small openings. This, it says, allows for a rich, full sound in comparatively very compact, lightweight earcups. More precise details about the type and characteristics of the drivers are not given. However, it is stated that DSP algorithms are used. The so-called volume-optimized Active EQ is supposed to boost trebles and basses and thus ensure a balanced sound at any volume. The bass remains even with quiet music, and the sound remains clear with loud music, according to the company.

Bluetooth 5.1 for signal transmission

The signal transmission is based on Bluetooth 5.1, and of course a suitable app, the Bose Music App for Apple iOS and Google Android, should not be missing. Bose SimplySync is supposed to make it possible to pair the Bose QuietComfort 45 with various solutions from Bose Corporation. This can also be connected to two source devices, seamlessly choosing between them as the source.

It’s worth mentioning that you can, of course, use the Bose QuietComfort 45 completely passively when the battery runs out of power.

It should also be mentioned that the new Bose QuietComfort 45 naturally has integrated microphones to be used as a hands-free device. Four microphones are available for this, and special DSP algorithms are also used to guarantee particularly good speech quality.

24 hours battery life

A key feature of any Bluetooth headphone is, of course, the achievable playing time, and this is said to be up to 24 hours for the new Bose QuietComfort 45. Charging is done via USB-C, and full capacity is supposed to be reached after only two and a half hours. Only 15 minutes on the mains are enough for two and a half hours of music enjoyment via a quick-charge function.

High wearing comfort and robust workmanship

The manufacturer particularly emphasizes the robust workmanship of the new Bose QuietComfort 45. Fiberglass-reinforced nylon protects the headband from impact and deformation, and cast metal hinges are said to guarantee reliable operation for years to come.

The compact, lightweight design is primarily responsible for high wearing comfort, but so is the leatherette-covered padding on the ear cups and the headband.

Tried and tested operating concept

It is striking that Bose Corporation also relies on simple buttons for operating the new Bose QuietComfort 45, while the competition often relies on sensor touch fields in this area.

The new Bose QuietComfort 45 is scheduled to be available from the end of September 2021 at a price of €349.95, with a choice of black or white. The scope of delivery includes a matching carrying case as well as a USB-C cable and an audio cable with 3.5 mm jack to 2.5 mm jack.

Getting to the point

Bose Corporation deliberately refers to the new Bose QuietComfort 45 as the “original”, as they want to continue the years in which they were the clear market leader in the field of headphones with active noise cancelling. In view of the very wide range of products in this field, some of which are really outstanding, this will certainly not be an easy task.
