BluOS 3.16 Update – 3D Sound with Dolby Atmos for Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+

The BluOS 3.16 update brings an unforgettable 3D sound experience to movies, music, games and shows, Bluesound International promises. In fact, the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ is equipped for Dolby Atmos with this update.

With the upcoming BluOS 3.16 update, Bluesound International is fulfilling a promise made back in March 2021 around the presentation of the latest soundbar in the BluOS ecosystem, the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+.

With this soundbar, a solution of the Bluesound Wireless Streaming Sound System should be available that brings surround sound into the living room in the simplest way, including Dolby Atmos.

The new BluOS 3.16 update brings an unforgettable 3D sound experience to movies, music, games and shows, according to the Canadian company.

BluOS 3.16 update – basis for new audio settings

According to Bluesound International, the new update provides the basis for an incredible sound stage that offers a completely new dimension for movies, music, games and shows.

With the help of the update, completely new audio settings are available for realistic home cinema sound and support for the impressive performance of Dolby Atmos.

The Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ is seen as the ultimate audiophile soundbar that can meet every home entertainment need and can be easily integrated into any living environment. The fact that this is not only a pure soundbar, but also an extremely flexible streaming solution in combination with other solutions of the Bluesound Wireless Streaming Sound System, should be explicitly mentioned at this point.

Especially since BluOS also plays an important role in the functionality of the soundbar as a high-quality audio system for the TV set.

Immersive surround sound with Dolby Atmos

The BluOS implementation of Dolby Atmos in the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+, which the manufacturer believes is unique, offers four virtualisation profiles – Movie, Music, Late Night and Off – and provides customers with more features than other soundbar implementations of audio processing technologies developed by Dolby Laboratory Inc.

While content encoded in Dolby Atmos provides the most realistic experience, any content – from two-channel stereo to seven channels – can be virtualised to give users a wider, higher and more complete soundstage. Great care has been taken to ensure that the timbre of the sound remains natural throughout the listening environment.

“We are thrilled that BluOS 3.16 with the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ adds a whole new dimension to our customers’ home theatre experience. Many brands neglect audio quality when introducing new technologies in the soundbar category, but Bluesound puts audio quality first. That’s why we’re excited that our team’s decades of software engineering and hi-fi audio design experience makes Dolby Atmos more believable and natural than ever in a two-channel soundbar.”

Flexible connection options and streaming possibilities

You can connect or use almost any audio source with the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ via a range of wired and wireless, digital and analogue connection options, says the manufacturer. TVs, game consoles, music streaming services, laptops

and local music libraries in the network as well as online offerings can be used via HDMI including eARC, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, S/PDIF coaxial and optical, but also USB, analogue inputs, and above all, of course, via proprietary music streaming using BluOS.

High performance

The Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ has been designed for maximum efficiency and features a powerful custom ARM Cortex A53 quad-core processor, which, according to the manufacturer, processes audio eight times faster than previous generations of the

Bluesound architecture. Combined with dual WiFi chips to eliminate network latency, the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ delivers rock-solid, lag-free audio performance.

The Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ offers a wide range of control options designed to make it easy to integrate home entertainment into everyday life.

The newly added simple touch controls on the front provide quick direct access to play, pause and volume. With a smartphone or tablet, the integrated wireless multi-room hi-res audio streaming technology BluOS can play audio in any room of the house and of course this also forms the basis for intuitive voice control, whether via Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa or Apple Siri.

It is also essential that BluOS provides a system that is also equipped for integration with professional control solutions, such as Lutron, Crestron, RTI, Elan and others.

“In 2016, Bluesound launched the world’s first hi-res soundbar, setting the bar for audio quality in this category that still stands today. With the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+, we continue our commitment to bringing hi-res hi-fi listening to everyday life.”

Matt Simmonds, Bluesound Product Manager

Of course, the new update for BluOS is available free of charge. Existing users can do so easily via the BluOS Controller App when available.

Getting to the point

As the saying goes: Good things come to those who wait… Yes, sometimes developments take a little longer than originally predicted by the manufacturer. But now, according to Bluesound International, the BluOS 3.16 update will be available these days, equipping the Bluesound PULSE SOUNDBAR+ for Dolby Atmos.
