Block MHF-900 – Compact HiFi CD receiver…

A “mini-system”, which can nevertheless play on a large scale and shines with its flexible equipment, is to be available with the new compact CD receiver from Audioblock GmbH, the Block MHF-900.

Compact audio solutions enjoy great popularity because they provide a variety of sources in the simplest way possible and can be integrated very easily into the living room. In modern solutions of this type, the spectrum usually ranges from CD and radio, Bluetooth or even network, to various inputs for further external sources.

The same is true for the latest addition to the Audioblock GmbH family, which can be assigned to the category of Micro-HiFi systems, namely the MHF-900 block.

The new MHF-900 block is intended to provide a micro-hifi system that is as flexible as possible and which can probably meet all the needs of most consumers, as it can be integrated discreetly into the living room without any problems and has flexible equipment for enjoying music from a wide variety of sources. In addition, despite its very compact dimensions, it shows itself to be quite powerful for great sound, as the manufacturer himself describes it, and can also convince with a very appealing appearance.

Thus the new Block MHF-900 is indeed a complete system in which the “base” is delivered in the form of a CD receiver in combination with matching shelf speaker systems. The customer thus receives a ready-to-play solution that requires no additional investment.

The actual CD receiver measures no more than 210 x 120 x 285 mm, thus requiring hardly any floor space and weighing 3.98 kg. The system is available in either black or silver, whereby the developers naturally rely on an elegant, robust metal housing.

The largest part of the front of the Block MHF-900 is taken up by a TFT colour display, which offers a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Directly underneath there are a row of buttons, to the right of which is a rotary encoder including a main switch, so that all essential elements for a comfortable operation can be found directly on the device. Of course, a matching infrared remote control is also included in the scope of delivery.

The new block MHF-900 is, as already mentioned, designed as a CD receiver, first of all there is a slot-in audio CD player, a radio with FM and DAB+. In addition, the new MHF-900 block is equipped with Bluetooth so that smartphones, tablets, notebooks and other portable devices can be directly integrated as sources. In addition, a USB port allows the direct use of storage media as a source, whereby the MHF-900 block supports a variety of file formats. Two pairs of cinch sockets are available for analogue sources, and a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack connector is also available as a line in. In addition to a Pre Out and a Record Out, both designed as pairs of cinch sockets, the MHF-900 block also has a connection for headphones, whereby a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack connection was selected here.

Interestingly, the Block MHF-900 can also be connected to the network via a classic Ethernet interface (RJ45), or via WiFi. This is primarily used to access Internet radio, so that the manufacturer is quite right to speak of a “world receiver” around the radio function of the new Block MHF-900. However, it also provides its own content on the network, as this new compact audio system acts as a dlna-certified UPnP streaming client on the network. The so-called UNDOK app, which Audioblock GmbH uses for all streaming solutions, is used for convenient control and, in combination with other systems from the German company, also supports multi-room audio streaming.

The Class D amplifier of the new Block MHF-900 delivers a power of twice 40 watts to loudspeaker systems with an impedance of 4 ohms.

As already mentioned, there is no need to look around for suitable loudspeaker systems, these are already part of the “package” in the form of the Block LS-900. For example, Block Audio combines the new Block MHF-900 with compact bookshelf speaker systems measuring 145 x 220 x 185 mm and weighing 5.6 kg as a pair. These are two-way bass-reflex systems using a 4-inch low-mid driver and a 1-inch tweeter. The aforementioned bass reflex system is routed out to the rear, so that the speakers should at least be given a little “leeway” for optimal sound development. The speakers have an impedance of 4 Ohm and should cover a frequency range between 75 Hz and 20 kHz. For larger rooms and for more bass you can of course use an additional active subwoofer, which can be connected to the already mentioned line out of the MHF-900 block.

As we have already mentioned, the new micro system from Audioblock GmbH is available in silver or black, whereby the manufacturer himself speaks of diamond silver or sapphire black. In both versions, the corresponding Speaker Block LS-900 is black, with a wood structure finish.

The new block MHF-900 is to be available soon. The recommended retail price is stated by the manufacturer as € 799,-.
