Handmade in Italy, this applies to the exquisite rack systems from Bassocontinuo Audio Systems Srl and thus also to the latest solution in the entry-level segment, the Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1.

The company, based in Grassobbio in the province of Bergamo, sees itself as a proven specialist for hi-fi racks, claiming to have the only solutions on the market whose effectiveness has been scientifically proven. The Italians work together with the Politecnico di Milano technical university.

The systems from Bassocontinuo Audio Systems Srl are correspondingly complex from a technical point of view, but the company always succeeds in ensuring that the hi-fi racks are anything but technically sober, but rather convince with an extremely impressive elegance. This also applies to the new generation of solutions in the entry-level segment, the already mentioned Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1.

Probably the most important feature of the new Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1 is that it is a modular system, whereby the Bassocontinuo Reference Line was used as a model.

This offers the customer the immense advantage that, on the one hand, he can flexibly put together a solution entirely according to his ideas directly when configuring his hi-fi rack, and on the other hand, he can also carry out conversions and upgrades at any time. The rack thus grows with the electronics.

An essential difference between high-quality hi-fi racks and those solutions that are often found in furniture stores, for example, is of course the stability. Manufacturers such as Bassocontinuo Audio Systems Srl are particularly concerned that their systems can be used with a wide variety of electronics, including products that weigh a little more. In the case of the new Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1, for example, this means that the supports have a thickness of no less than 25 mm and can thus easily support components weighing up to 60 kg. This specification applies, by the way, per level.

Of course, the connections between the individual levels must also be correspondingly robust; in the case of the Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1, these metal elements have a diameter of 35 mm and rest in corresponding supports with height-adjustable spikes. Two lengths of tubes are available, 5 and 10 cm, which can be combined individually.

The supports for these tubes follow the new zero-shaking system from Bassocontinuo Audio Systems Srl, thus offering perfect decoupling. The tie rods have a cover made of Delrin, the plastic polyoxymethylene, also known as POM.

The metal elements, i.e. the connecting rods and the frames of the individual levels, are available in three design variants: Dark Grey, Milky White and Silver.

A total of four design versions are available, namely Cerbero Black, Iside White and the two new finish versions Walnut and Wenge. The manufacturer emphasises the latter two in particular, because the racks of the new Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1 are said to be a perfect match for loudspeaker systems from Sonus Faber S.p.A..

As already mentioned, flexibility is to be particularly emphasised here, so the Italians offer the Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1 in five model variants that form the basis. First, there is the Lyra XL4 2.1 option and the Lyra 2.1 version, which are basically classic hi-fi racks with three levels. The Cymbalon 2.1 version is special in that it is a rack with two levels, and two rows joined directly to each other. The manufacturer refers to this as a double wide rack. The Viella 2.1 platform is designed primarily for heavy power amplifiers, and the Melodica 2.1 version also offers a console for wall mounting, ideal for record players, for example.

The solutions of the new Bassocontinuo Classic Line 2.1 are available immediately from specialist dealers. Due to the enormous flexibility that this new product line offers in terms of configuration, it is difficult to give concrete prices. However, it can be roughly stated that the options start at € 440 for the Bassocontinuo Lyra 2.1 Isostatic Audio Rack and € 509 for the Bassocontinuo Lyra XL4 2.1 4 Legs Audio Rack. The Bassocontinuo Cymbalon 2.1 Double Wide Rack is available from € 730. The Bassocontinuo Viella 2.1 Power Amplifiers Stand is available from € 477 and the Bassocontinuo Melodica 2.1 Turntable Wall Brackets from € 750.
