Audirvana Studio 1.8 with new folder view

Once again, an update is available for the media management and audio player software Audirvana Studio, namely to Audirvana Studio 1.8 or even to Audirvana Studio 1.8.1. The most significant innovation here is the introduction of a new folder view.

Audirvana Studio 1.8 is the latest version of the media management and hi-res audio player software from the French software company Audirvana SAS. With a leap from 1.7 to 1.8, the latest version once again raises expectations.

In fact, however, there is only one innovation that distinguishes Audirvana Studio 1.8 from previous versions.

Audirvana Studio 1.8 with Folders View

Audirvana Studio 1.8 introduces a completely new option for displaying one’s own media library based on the underlying folder structure.

The developers call this option Folders View and point out that users will find it a particularly natural way to navigate through the collection of their music data.

The folder view makes it possible to browse synchronised folders, display the titles of the selected folders, play them, add them to playlists or favourites.

This is probably addressed to all those users who really like to manually structure audio data in folders on file level. However, those who have been used to tools such as Apple iTunes for years, which do exactly that for the user in secret, will not be able to do anything with this option, that must be stated openly.

Audirvana 1.8.1 as a further update

No sooner was Audirvana 1.8 available than Audirvana SAS pushed out another update, so that Audirvana 1.8.1 is now the latest version. This update, however, does not provide more than a few bug fixes, which, by the way, Audirvana 1.8 also offered.

What’s new with the Audirvana Remote App

The Audirvana Remote App is also available in a new version. Now it should be possible to sort elements in a view that is also possible on Audirvana Studio on the desktop. The display in landscape format on tablets is also said to have been improved. A filter function as well as the creation of intelligent playlists will be announced by the developer for a future update.

The update for Audirvana Studio 1.8 or Audirvana Studio 1.8.1 is of course free of charge, after all Audirvana SAS switched to a subscription model with the introduction of Audirvana Studio. This is probably one of the reasons why the version number of the software jumped so quickly from 1.0 to 1.8.1, in many cases unfortunately without offering any really outstanding innovations.

Audirvana Remote is available free of charge for Apple iOS and Google Android.

Getting to the point

On the one hand, one has to praise the software company Audirvana SAS for always providing new updates and thus ensuring the smoothest possible operation. On the other hand, it would be desirable if the developers did not increase the version numbers of the Audirvana Studio software so quickly and thus raise expectations that ultimately cannot be fulfilled with improvements only in details.
