AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3

Based on technologies derived from the development of the high-end AudioQuest Niagara Series power strips, AudioQuest now presents two power strips that are designed for the slightly smaller purse, yet are designated as audiophile solutions: the new AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3.

The accessory specialist AudioQuest has been dealing with the topic of an optimal power supply for HiFi and AV systems for quite some time now, and has proven high-end solutions on offer. So far, the focus has been on the so-called AudioQuest Niagara Series, a product line that includes various systems for optimum power supply and which the manufacturer himself describes as a redefinition of the technology of power conditioning. As proven solutions in the upscale segment, these naturally have a corresponding price tag.

Now AudioQuest is looking to expand its power supply range downwards, with solutions that appeal to a much wider range of customers thanks to attractive prices, with the new AudioQuest PowerQuest Series, and thus the new AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3, power strips that the US company classifies as audiophile solutions and whose function is that of a filter and surge protection.

The two new solutions will be based on the technology and experience developed and gained with the AudioQuest Niagara Series. Garth Powell, the expert behind the AudioQuest Niagara Series solutions, has also developed the two new AudioQuest PowerQuest Series systems.

So although the AudioQuest PowerQuest Series solutions are offered at very attractive price points, they are expected to be a significant improvement, even compared to products in the same price range.

The two systems now available, AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3, are equipped with line filters, whereby the available connections are subdivided according to different application purposes. For example, the AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 systems have dedicated connections for TVs or projectors, amplifiers and source devices. In addition, both systems have USB ports that are designed for connecting appropriate devices such as portable D/A converters, small streaming devices, but also for charging mobile devices, be it a smartphone, tablet, or headphones. Of course, the AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 systems also feature surge protection.

The AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 has a total of six Schuko sockets, one for TV sets or projectors with linear filtering optimized for 4K or 8K video, one as a high current output for amplifiers, and four as linear filter outputs. In addition there are two USB ports with a total output current of 3.4 A.

AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 features two 4K and 8K video-optimized ultra-linear filter outputs, two high-current outputs and four ultra-linear filter outputs. In total there are eight Schuko sockets available. You don’t have to do without USB either, whereby four ports with a total output current of 4.8 A are offered.

Interesting is the design that the developers chose for the new AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3. These are in no way similar to conventional power strips, as they are built much “higher”, with all the connections on the top of the AudioQuest PowerQuest 2, whereas the connections on the AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 are distributed on the top and on one side. It should be noted that AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 are also suitable for wall mounting. In both cases the cable has a length of 2.1m.

The new systems AudioQuest PowerQuest 2 and AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 should be available in specialist shops from now on. The manufacturer states a recommended retail price of € 249 for the new AudioQuest PowerQuest 2. The AudioQuest PowerQuest 3 should be available at the recommended retail price of € 349,-.
