INKLANG AYERS One Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Two Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Four Wireless and INKLANG AYERS Five Wireless, with these solutions and the INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect, the German company INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH is now focusing on wireless active speakers.

Story Highlights
  • INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH now presents no less than five models of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series as well as the new INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect.

With no less than five new models of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series as well as the new INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect, the German company INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH now presents a very broad new product range of active loudspeaker systems, and what’s more, these are solutions that belong to the Wireless Active Speaker class and thus, from the point of view of many users, represent exactly what they imagine a modern hi-fi chain that concentrates on the essentials.

The spectrum ranges from compact shelf loudspeaker systems to particularly powerful floor-standing loudspeaker systems, so that the Hamburg-based company covers a broad spectrum for the most diverse room sizes.

INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH focuses on individuality

For the Hamburg-based company INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH, the fact that it now focuses on active loudspeaker systems is entirely in line with the strategy it has pursued from the very beginning, which states that customers should always have the option of customising loudspeaker systems as much as possible to suit their personal preferences.

The customising concept of INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH, which was founded in 2014, no longer only extends to the appearance, such as colours, gloss levels of the colours, different metal applications and various alternative fabric covers, but also to the choice of drive technology, according to the company’s promise.

From bookshelf to floorstanding speaker system

As already mentioned, the new INKALNG AYERS Wireless Series is a very broadly positioned product line, because it starts with the bookshelf and goes all the way to the floor-standing speaker system.

The Hamburg-based company now offers five models: INKLANG AYERS One Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Two Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Four Wireless and INKLANG AYERS Five Wireless, The INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless, INKLANG AYERS Four Wireless and INKLANG AYERS Five Wireless models are all available for purchase, including two bookshelf speaker systems – INKLANG AYERS One Wireless and INKLANG AYERS Two Wireless – as well as three floor-standing speaker systems.

Best performance through DDFA amplifiers

Direct Digital Feedback Amplifiers, or DDFA amplifiers for short, are a special feature of the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series active speaker systems.

These are chip-controlled power amplifiers in which the digital input signal is constantly monitored and matched with the output signal at the individual loudspeaker chassis in order to guarantee maximum conformity. This ensures a virtually distortion-free and noise-free performance across the entire power range of the amplifier systems.

Depending on the model, up to four of these DDFA amplifiers are used in the speakers of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series, whereby the manufacturer expressly points out that they are installed in separate chambers of the cabinet in order to prevent any negative influence on the sound.

INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH promises a system power of 250, 400 or even up to 500 watts as well as a filtering of the individual drivers by means of a DSP that works with a resolution of 24 bits and 192 kHz.

DSP-based signal processing

A very important point about the solutions of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series is that they come with three adjustable room EQs and thus allow an adjustment to the room acoustics. This means that the reproduction can be adapted to the respective set-up, e.g. free-standing in the room or standing close to a wall. In addition, a dynamic EQ is available, which is designed for lovers of intense and rich sound and offers a boost of the low and high frequencies.

Flexible use

It is essential that the solutions of the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series can be used in many different ways, and the connection panel of the speakers presents itself accordingly.

The active speaker systems are designed in such a way that they can be used directly with a preamplifier or a solution with an integrated preamplifier, such as a corresponding streaming client, D/A converter and the like. First and foremost, a digital connection is used and an optical as well as coaxial S/PDIF interface is provided.

According to the manufacturer, the customer can connect each loudspeaker individually or have the signal passed on from one loudspeaker to another. A digital pass-through is provided for this purpose.

Of course, analogue sources can also be connected; for this purpose, the speakers have corresponding inputs and A/D converters that convert signals with 24 bits and 192 kHz.

The most important connection to the outside world of all systems of the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series is of course the “wireless” option, which is realised by means of the new INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect.

INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect – The streaming sound hub of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series

The task of the new INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect is to supply the loudspeaker systems of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series “wirelessly” with audio data that is transmitted in high-resolution quality and thus loss-free, as the manufacturer explicitly emphasises.

The INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect thus represents the control centre of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series, whereby it is a compact system with dimensions of only 192 x 53 x 212 mm and a weight of 1.4 kg. It is made of aluminium and is sandblasted, so that it has a particularly noble appearance and can be placed prominently on a sideboard or lowboard without any problems. It is available in silver, black and light gold.

To ensure that WiFi, Bluetooth and radio achieve optimal signal strengths, the corresponding units are concealed behind an acrylic cover, a detail that should be mentioned in passing.

This already reveals that the INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect can be integrated into the network primarily via WiFi according to IEEE 802.11ac, but an RJ45 Ethernet interface is also available as an alternative.

The INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect also has Bluetooth 4.2 with support for the SBC and AAC codecs, an optical and coaxial S/PDIF interface, as well as HDMI with ARC (Audio Return Channel) and HDMI CEC, so that a TV can be connected directly. There is also a USB port in the form of USB Type A.

Interestingly, the INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect also has an analogue output in the form of a pair of RCA sockets and a digital output designed as a coaxial S/PDIF interface, whereby the level can be set to fixed or variable in both cases. This means that the INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect can also be used with various active speaker systems that do not have a suitable wireless option.

The speakers of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series, however, are operated via radio, more precisely via Kleernet Digital Wireless, a technology that transmits in the 5.8 GHz range.

The INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect functions in the network as a dlna-certified UPnP streaming client, can access Spotify, TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer and HIGHRESAUDIO directly and also supports TuneIn Internet Radio and podcasts.

It should be emphasised that this solution can also be used in a multi-room audio streaming network, whereby the manufacturer does not impose any restrictions on the number of clients.

The INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect supports all relevant formats and audio data up to 24 bit and 192 kHz with MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, AIFF, WAV and FLAC.

Simple control on the device, via remote control or app

The manufacturer from Hamburg promises particularly simple control for the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series, whereby the focus is naturally also on the INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect.

On the one hand, this can be controlled directly on the device via a display and a rotary knob with push option, but also via an infrared remote control. However, the most convenient option for streaming is a suitable app, which is available in the form of the INKLANG InX app for Apple iOS and Google Android.

According to the manufacturer, the INKLANG InX app completely controls the streaming client, allowing not only switching it on and off and controlling all playback options, but also offering personalisation.

Thus, unused streaming offers and inputs can be hidden and the names of the inputs can be individually defined.

Let’s now take a detailed look at the speaker systems of the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series.

INKLANG AYERS One Wireless

The INKLANG AYERS One Wireless is the most compact bookshelf speaker system. It is an active two-way bass reflex system that relies on a 152 mm woofer and 30 mm tweeter driver, with a crossover frequency of 1.25 kHz.

Even here, the manufacturer relies on bi-amping with a system power of 250 watts. The system is capable of reproducing a frequency range between 34 H and 32 kHz. The speaker measures 175 mm in width, 394 mm in height and 333 mm in depth and weighs 10.4 kg.

INKLANG AYERS Two Wireless

The INKLANG AYERS Two Wireless is a bit larger, although it is also a shelf speaker system that functions as a two-way bass reflex system. However, a 182 mm woofer and a 30 mm tweeter are used here, so that a frequency range between 28 Hz and 32 kHz can be reproduced. The crossover starts at 1.2 kHz, but the system power is also 250 watts. With dimensions of 205 mm in width, 426 mm in height and 415 mm in depth, this speaker system weighs 14.1 kg.

INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless

The INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless is the slimmest floorstanding speaker system in the product line, combining a 30 mm tweeter with a 120 mm midrange and 182 mm bass driver. For the lowest frequency range, a bass reflex system is also available here. With a system output of 250 watts, the INKLANG AYERS Three Wireless can reproduce a frequency range between 28 Hz and 32 kHz; the crossover in this three-way bass reflex system starts at 160 Hz and 1 kHz respectively.

This loudspeaker system measures a slim 154 mm in width or 239 mm if you add the base plate, has a height of 1,013 mm and a depth of 353 mm. The weight is listed in the data sheet as 20.5 kg.

INKLANG AYERS Four Wireless

The new INKLANG AYERS Four Wireless is, of course, also a floor-standing loudspeaker system, and one that can already boast quite impressive performance data. In this three-way bass reflex system, the 22 mm tweeter, the 55 mm Mittenton driver and the two 152 mm woofers are driven by a system power of 400 watts, whereby the manufacturer refers to this as quadro-amping. The speaker system, with crossovers at 550 Hz and 1.8 kHz, is said to be able to reproduce a frequency range between 32 Hz and 34 kHz.

The speaker measures 175 mm in width and 260 mm including the base plate, 1,113 mm in height and 348 mm in depth and thus weighs 23,6 kg.

INKLANG AYERS Five Wireless

The new INKLANG AYERS Five Wireless is clearly the flagship of the product line from Hamburg. Managing Director Thomas Carstensen and his team rely on a floorstanding speaker designed as a three-way bass reflex system, in which the 22 mm tweeter, the 55 mm Mittenton driver and the two 182 mm woofers are driven by Quadro amplification with a full 500 watts of system power and can reproduce a frequency range between 28 Hz and 34 kHz. The crossovers are set at 480 Hz and 1.8 kHz.

With dimensions of 205 mm and 290 mm in width, once without and once with the base plate, 1,163 mm in height and 410 mm in depth, this loudspeaker system weighs 26,6 kg.

Prices and availability

INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH emphasises that the surcharges for the active loudspeaker systems are pleasantly moderate compared to the passive versions, i.e. they really want to make this option particularly attractive to the customer.

The price of the smallest INKLANG AYERS One, for example, rises by € 300 from € 849,- to € 1.149,- per unit. The price of the top model, the INKLANG AYERS Five, increases from € 2.299,- for the passive version by € 600,- to € 2.899,-. For the other prices in detail, please refer to the table. The INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect is available for € 899,- if purchased together with a pair of speakers. On its own, it will cost € 999,-. INKLANG HD 10 Stream Connect and the active models of the INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series are available now directly from the manufacturer in Hamburg.

Getting to the point

It is a big step that the company INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH is now taking with the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series. This means that customers can now decide not only which design variants they want for loudspeaker systems from Hamburg, but also whether they prefer a passive or active version. The concept of an active loudspeaker system plus a wireless hub as a central and, above all, flexible interface is completely in line with the trend that has been observed in the world of hi-fi for quite some time. Such solutions, reduced to the essentials, are likely to represent the future of hi-fi for many users. In this respect, Thomas Carsten of INKLANG Lautsprecher Manufaktur GmbH can be said to have done everything right with the new INKLANG AYERS Wireless Series.
