Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini - More compact alternative to the flagship OpenRun Pro

According to Shoks Holding Limited, the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini is a response to a customer request, as many users wanted a smaller version of the Shokz OpenRun Pro with its Shokz TurboPitch Technology and thus the next evolutionary stage of the so-called bone-sound headphones.

Story Highlights
  • Designed for peak athletic performance, that's how Shokz Holding Limited promotes the new Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini.

Convincing sound quality and a firm fit are central themes for Shokz Holding Limited and thus the manufacturer who develops solutions such as the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini and thus so-called bone-sound headphones. With the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini, the audio specialists now offer the smaller version of the popular Shokz OpenRun Pro sports headphones, which is often requested by interested parties and features the latest Shokz TurboPitch Technology.

Thanks to shortened titanium temples, this model is particularly suitable for smaller head circumferences, as the manufacturer emphasises. In addition, the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini can be used without any problems wherever a tight fit is advantageous, for example when wearing a helmet for sports activities. And of course it features the well-known Shokz TurbiPitch Technology.

Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini – Not the first “mini

It is not the first time that Shokz Holding Limited decided to develop a slightly smaller version of an existing headphone. They offered the Shokz OpenRun Mini, a more compact version of the Shokz OpenRun, and now the Shokz OpenRun Pro, introduced in January 2022, is to follow in a more compact version.

Firm and comfortable grip

As already mentioned, the developers’ declared aim with the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini was to design a more compact version of the Shokz OpenRun Pro, which should always be used where users want a tighter fit of the temple on the back of the head. Of course, this is primarily for sports, especially if you use a helmet for sporting activities, or a bonnet in lower temperatures.

Compared to its big brother, it’s actually only the shorter titanium earpieces that are to be mentioned in the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini; the rest of the equipment is essentially the same as in the Shokz OpenRun Pro.

Bone-sound headphones – Shokz TurboPitch Technology

The company Shokz Holding Limited is considered to be a proven specialist in a special technology, the so-called bone-conduction technology. Sound is transmitted directly via contact with the skull bone, with the headphones resting on the cheek in front of the user’s ear. The sound is transmitted through the cheekbone to the inner ear, leaving the ear free so that you can perceive your surroundings undisturbed.

In the case of the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini, the manufacturer refers to the latest generation of this technology, the Shokz TurboPitch Technology, which is supposed to guarantee an appealing performance, even if it cannot be fully compared to that of conventional headphones.

Flexible in use

The Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini uses Bluetooth for signal transmission, whereby so-called Bluetooth multipoint pairing is supported. This means that you can connect two source devices to the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini at the same time and switch between them seamlessly.

The integrated microphone allows phone calls and video calls as well as the use of voice control solutions and is said to offer impeccable quality through Dual Noise-Cancelling Technology.

It should also be mentioned that the Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini is of course IP55 certified and thus resistant to rain, sweat and dust.

High endurance

Playback is said to be ensured for up to ten hours, and the integrated battery can be recharged within a short time by a special charging cable with magnetic attachment through Quick Charge. Incidentally, just five minutes on the power is enough for 1.5 hours of use again.

Prices and availability

The Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini is available from specialist retailers at a recommended retail price of € 189,95. Customers can choose between the black and beige versions.

Getting to the point

The solutions from Shokz Holding Limited are characterised first and foremost by the fact that they are so-called bone-sound headphones, which cannot be compared with conventional headphone concepts. Based on the so-called bone-conduction technology, the sound is transmitted directly to the inner ear via the cheekbones, so the ears themselves remain completely free. This is an outstanding feature especially for sports use, so that the headphones of the Shokz brand are primarily used here. The Shokz OpenRun Pro Mini is aimed at those users who want a rather tight-fitting model, for example, to wear helmets when cycling or skiing, or a bonnet in lower temperatures, but still want to use headphones comfortably.
