Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources - Linear power supply of the Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series

Up to four Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series or Pro-Ject Box Design RS Series source units are to be powered by the new power supply unit for this product line, the Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources.

Story Highlights
  • The Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources is a linear power supply from the Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems describes the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources, the latest addition to the Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series, as a solution representing four linear power supplies in one housing. This linear power supply is designed to supply up to four devices of the Pro-Ject Box Design RS Series as well as the Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series with power, which is intended to improve the overall quality of the hi-fi chain.

In addition, a solution such as the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources saves a lot of cables – in fact, one could even say that it elegantly helps to avoid the tangled mess of cables behind the hi-fi rack.

Following the Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Phono, which is an all-in-one solution for the complete phono set-up, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has once again decided to enhance the quality of the hi-fi chain with a particularly high-quality power supply.

Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources – For the best sound

According to Pro-Ject Audio Systems, the power supply is an important factor when it comes to improving sound quality, as it eliminates a potential source of interference and prevents noise and signal impurities.

In addition, with the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources, up to four customised power supplies are available for optimal power supply.

According to Pro-Ject Audio Systems, this starts with the fact that a linear power supply is better than a switched-mode power supply, whereby – to exaggerate – one speaks of clean energy.

This is achieved by a toroidal transformer, for example, which serves as the basis for all four power supplies of the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources and takes up a good third of the interior of the cabinet. In addition, a main isolating transformer with copper foil shielding, precisely controlled rectification of the secondary voltage and a high filter capacity of 10,000 μF as well as capacitors with low ESR, low-noise components with overvoltage protection and a solid aluminium housing that protects against starch are used.

As described, the Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources has four connections for the power supply of various components, each of which can supply direct current with 20 V and a maximum of 2 A.

It must also be mentioned that a soft-start system serves as a safety feature and with the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources – from a purely practical point of view – can be completely disconnected from the power supply via a toggle switch.

Made in Europe

Once again, Pro-Ject Audio Systems is keen to point out that all its electronic components are manufactured exclusively in Europe, including the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources.

Prices and availability

The new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources will be available immediately from specialist dealers. The customer can choose between black and silver, but in any case he has to calculate a recommended retail price of € 999,-.

Getting to the point

The new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources is a linear power supply for up to four Pro-Ject Box Design RS Series or Pro-Ject Box Design RS2 Series source units, providing a reliable, clean power source for all of them. In addition, the new Pro-Ject Power Box RS2 Sources from Pro-Ject Audio Systems provides power cable management in a very practical way, as it reduces plugs in the power strip.
