System Audio SA Silverback 1 – Big Sound, not big Speakers

If you're looking for big sound, not big speakers, you'll be right with the new System Audio SA Silverback 1, System Audio A/S promised on the occasion of the presentation of the latest model of the System Audio SA Silverback Series.

The System Audio SA Silverback 1 is the latest addition to the System Audio SA Silverback Series and thus the product line with which the Danish company System Audio A/S wants to offer a particularly innovative and focused on the essentials interpretation of a modern hi-fi and surround solution. Slim, almost graceful active speaker systems, which are controlled via WiSA Technology and thus radio, whereby the user does not have to accept any compromises in terms of flexibility and quality, System Audio A/S is convinced.

With the new System Audio SA Silverback 1, a particularly compact wireless speaker system is now to be ready, which one conceived first and foremost for HiFi. This new speaker system was developed for music lovers who are looking for a great sound experience without having to put large speakers in the living room, according to the manufacturer’s promise.

System Audio SA Silverback 1 – Great sound, very compact speakers

The new System Audio SA Silverback 1 feature a size roughly equivalent to an A4 sheet of paper, System Audio A/S says, adding that the depth has also turned out to be very small. In fact, it is only 32.5 cm in height, 21 cm in width, and 13.5 cm in depth that the new System Audio SA Silverback 1 has.

A special feature is that the new System Audio SA Silverback 1 can be placed free-standing on a lowboard or sideboard or close to a wall, but it can also be mounted on a wall. Especially when placed on a piece of furniture, it is noticeable that the speakers are slightly tilted backwards to achieve an optimal radiation into the room.

The new System Audio SA Silverback 1 is designed as a two-way bass reflex system that uses two amplifier modules, each with an output of 80 watts, to drive a high-frequency and low-midrange driver separately and can thus cover a frequency range between 45 Hz and 25 kHz.

Since the System Audio SA Silverback 1, as already indicated, is intended for near-wall or direct wall mounting, one takes advantage of this right away, can thus achieve a much deeper-impacting performance, compensating for any disadvantages in this case, according to System Audio A/S, with DSP-based signal processing, which, as with all models in the System Audio SA Silverback Series, is also available in the new System Audio SA Silverback 1.

This DSP-based signal processing is also used to take advantage of the optional room calibration and room correction available via the System Audio SA Cockpit app for Apple iOS and Google Android, allowing for perfect integration into any room.

The simple integration into any living environment is of course also facilitated by the fact that you do not need more than a power cable for operation, because the signal is transmitted via radio, for example with the help of the included System Audio Stereo Hub.

System Audio Stereo Hub

Apart from the fact that many consumer electronics systems, for example TV sets from selected manufacturers, already rely on WiSA Technology, with which the System Audio SA Silverback 1 could be directly connected, System Audio A/S itself naturally offers the System Audio Stereo Hub, the central interface for the realization of a hi-fi chain based on speaker systems from the System Audio SA Silverback Series.

The System Audio Stereo Hub is designed as a comparatively inconspicuous compact solution, and in principle features all relevant interfaces for different sources, both analog and digital. In addition to HDMI, USB-B, three optical and one coaxial S/PDIF interfaces, a 3.5 mm stereo mini-jack and a pair of cinc jacks are available as analog inputs. However, the focus is clearly placed on streaming, with a wide variety of platforms supported.

UPnP, Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Spotify Connect are available here, and Bluetooth 5.0 can also be used directly away from the network.

By the way, the signal transmission via WiSA to the speakers is done with 24 bit and 192 kHz, almost latency-free and thus lip-synchronous and with the highest quality.

The control takes over, we have already mentioned this, the System Audio SA Cockpit App for Apple iOS and Google Android, in addition, the System Audio Stereo Hub is delivered with a suitable remote control.
